Choose the Right Skin Care For Your Man

By: Julia Elorriaga

Men are beginning to give time to take care of their skin. Well, why not? It sometimes comes as a surprise that they can be as picky as we women when it comes to skin care. The men of today are of a more demanding lot. Just as we breathe the same air, we are exposed to the same kind of pollutants. It is not just the looking good factor that comes with skin care; it is the awareness that it really is a necessary thing to have a good skin care regimen.

Now, men and women are not necessarily alike as far as skin care requirements are concerned. Men, being of a more sturdy stock as opposed to women who are considered the fragile one’s, may be needing a certain amount of understanding about what is the best skin care suited to him. We can begin with getting to know his skin…and facial hair.

Basically, men will also have the same skin type which may be dry, oily and the combination skin. Once this has been determined, the rest is easy. Therefore the selection of after-shaving creams and soaps would be dependent on this as well.

Let’s keep it natural. This means skin care products made with natural ingredients will do wonders for the male skin as it has been done in ages. There are a lot of natural based ingredients in the market to choose from. Also, choose the type of product that will answer your particular skin problem. It may range from the simple pore- de-clogging products to skin lightening products to anti-aging products.

And there is that facial hair. Shaving creams play a major role in his everyday regimen. It is however, good to note that to attain a smooth supple skin, men should choose creams that are generally gentle on skin and hypo-allergenic as well. There are also products out there that help in delaying facial hair growth so that shaving doesn’t have to be a daily routine to remove the stubble that persistently grows back as fast as it is shaved off.

Always make that conscious effort to learn about the ingredients that go with making a particular skin care product. Don’t get caught up on the marketing promotion and its claims. Learn about the product and see whether there really is basis to warrant whatever they claim. It’s easy to do this. Look for testimonies and if respectable health organizations have given them a seal of approval, then we can consider it safe. Keeping the skin healthy should always be foremost in our minds.

The modern man understands that a clean well-taken care of face is essential. If he chooses to retain his facial hair, you will notice that it is no longer done to make the man look like a beast but it artfully done to keep in the direction of still having the glowing skin as a sign of good health while not loosing the machismo mystic that is a man.
