Choosing The Right Fridge Freezer

When choosing a new fridge freezer, it's important to start with the very basics. Don't start by looking at the image and style of the fridge freezer - you need to look much more closely at measurements and dimensions of both the appliance and the area in which you plan to put it. Fridge freezers are known to be difficult to manoeuvre. One of the major considerations you should give to choosing a new fridge freezer is whether it can be positioned into the required area. Bear in mind the angles of doorways, and stairs you may need to cross and the height of doorframes.

Measure all dimensions of the area the fridge freezer is to be fitted. This includes the height, depth and width. It may sound obvious, but check that the area you are planning to fit the fridge freezer has a water and power supply. This can be very easy to overlook and therefore, double check it. Once the area is measured and prepared, check the route to the area from an entry point to the building.

Once you have the dimensions you require, start to think about the style of fridge you want. Some larger fridge freezers, such as the American style fridge freezers, may not fit into even the largest of spaces. American fridge freezers are known for their capacity and if you require a large fridge freezer, this style should certainly be top of your options. The only other type of freezer that you should consider if you require a lot of capacity would be a standard chest freezer. However, these do not have a refrigeration section so this may not be a viable option for you.

Another benefit of having an American fridge freezer is the fact that they can produce chilled drinks, usually from a front compartment or dispensing unit. this can also be used for ice dispensing and this must be a positive for any busy house. Also, check the size of the internal dimensions of your fridge. Fridges can often appear deceptively large and this should be taken into consideration. The overall internal capacity is given in cubic feet or meters, but to get a true reflection, just open the door!

Finally, pick a style you are happy with. Plain white or tinted metallic, the list of styles and options is endless and it's very important to check if the style compliments or clashes with your current kitchen interior.
