Digital Camera Accessories for Your Vacation Trip

By: Mike Kershaw

If you are about to go out on a vacation you have probably packed a digital camera so that you can capture the sights that you have seen, and most importantly, captured the memories of your vacation time. Just as a camera is important, you can greatly enhance the efficiency of digital camera by carrying the right accessories with you. Let's take a look at what could come in handy.

Do you have a good camera case?

Your camera is going to see a lot of action in different places and you need something to protect your camera and also to make it handy to carry around. Make sure that you have a small case that protects the camera, and if you are really serious about your photography you may even want a larger carrying bag to put the camera and all the accessories together.

Do you have enough memory?

In the old days you had to carry around enough film to be ready for any good opportunity. These days you need enough memory. Fortunately memory is a lot less bulky then ten rolls of film. Typically most digital cameras come with a built in memory of something like 16 MB, so you need something more. A memory card of 2 GB can be put in most cameras and this will give you plenty of space of stills and for videos too. If you are going to be carrying around memory cards, a good accessory is a case where you can store your memory cards. They are not expensive, but can really help you to stay organized and not lose one of the tiny cards.

Do you have a tripod?

A tripod can come in handy if you want to take some artistic, long exposure shots at night. At times like this you can't trust your shaky hand to do the job. Another good use of the tripod is for video taking. On almost all digital cameras you find a video mode, and you can get some good videos if you can mount your camera on a tripod. This is especially convenient when you attend a concert or other kind of performance. Tripods range from small devices that you can perch on a piece of furniture to full length models with long legs.

Do You Have an Extra Digital Battery?

The last thing you want is to be in front of the Pyramids or other scenic location and find that your battery has no more power. If you are careful in recharging you may not run out of power, but there is no harm in keeping a spare battery with you as they don't take up much space and they are not expensive.

Did you pack your connecting cables?

If you plan to download your photos to your computer during the trip, then you should make sure to either bring your USB cable or a memory card reader in case your computer doesn't have a built in card reader.

These are some of the digital camera accessories that will help you to get the most out of your camera, so take a look at what you have, and if you need an item or two, then get it before you leave on your next vacation adventure.
