Getting The Best Mass Air Flow Meter For Precision

By: Scott Fromherz

A mass air flow meter is usually used for measuring the flow rate or quantity of a moving gas. This mass air meter, which is also sometimes known as mass flow sensor, responds to the amount of the gas flowing through a specified chamber. Usually this meter or sensor is not influenced by the density of the gas, but merely the quantity only.

Commercially found around the country, this meter comes in four basic categories of devices. This would include differential pressure, positive displacement, velocity, and true mass. These four categories of meters have different method or mechanism or working, but as a whole, they all are intended for one function; measure the quantity of moving gas.

The Different Types

Differential pressure meters basically work by obtaining pressure differential in the movement and extracting the square root. This type of mass air meter would include cone-type devices, elbow tap meters, nozzles, laminar elements, orifice plates, Pitot tubes, rotameters, target meters, variable area meters, Venturi tubes, and others.

Positive displacement meter is the second type of meter. This flow meter works by dividing the air or specifically gas into specific increment. This would be then counted by means of mechanical or electronic calculation methods. Some of this type of mass air meter would include nutating disc devices, oval gear meters, piston-based designs, and others.

Velocity meters basically works in line with the flow rate. There is no square-root relationship involved here, so usually this type of meter is more commonly found everywhere in the country. Some common ones that can be found would include electromagnetic meters, paddlewheels, sonar-based devices, turbine meters, ultrasonic meters, vortex or shedding meters, and many more.

True mass meters, as the name suggests, is a type of mass air flow meter which is used to directly measure the mass rate of the flow. The technique used is very simple, so it's pretty much easy to understand. Some common ones under this type would include thermal meters, Coriolis meters, and others.

A common mass air flow meter under any of these categories does not go beyond $500, and most of them are made in China. You can basically order from anywhere around the country, and they would be delivered to your house direct by the sellers. Most of them are made for multi purpose usage, although commonly meant for automobile use primarily.

  • Some Interesting Facts You Should Know By: imteaz ahmed - Just take a look around you, and you will be amazed by the complexity of things you see and feel in your daily life, the vehicles, animals, food, electronics, nature, life itself..virtually everything. But, the fact is that we generally tend to take things for granted and stop short of thinking a bit more on what it is really or how does it all work? Or, we just give that credit to god, and just stick to our own lives without scratching the brain too much on such things, and leave the tasks to a Newton or an Einstein. Thanks that they were there for us;

  • Unexplained Mysteries about Ghosts By: Robert Thomson - Has someone seen a “ghost”? Or would someone suppose if somebody claims to have seen one? Ghosts are said to be spirits of the quiet, those who haven’t found the light yet, or those who refuse to accept the statement that they don’t belong here anymore. Some assertion that ghosts are demons. Some say that some ghosts are spirits, and some are demons. Some say they are just food of our imaginations. From this meaning onwards, everything about ghosts seems to wait a mystery. There had been a few explanations now, however somehow more questions are raised. And more and more questions wait unanswered.

  • How Does A Telescope Work By: Koz Huseyin - Have you ever wondered - how does a telescope work? Telescopes are interesting scientific instruments. Telescopes allow us to see objects at distances, which seem impossible, and make them possible, and a daily reality. There are 2 types of telescope, you will likely find available. The refractor telescope, which we attribute with Galileo Galilei and the other, is the reflecting telescope, which we attribute with Isaac Newton. * How Does A Refracting Telescope Work When we think of telescopes, the first conception we are likely to think of, is the classic Galileo refractor design. The design of the refracting telescope, is also the type you find on binoculars, though in pairs!

  • Aliens: A Never-Ending Mystery By: Robert Thomson - In this age where science and technology has developed so much that discoveries appear to have no end, it still seems that the truth about aliens remain a mystery. Are they honestly? Few people receive to have seen an alien. These claims faced a lot of questions, and eventually discrimination. Most people don’t trust in the life of aliens. They intention out that “as far as we know, we are the only form of life.” • The complete universe is not limited to our world, earth. It is indeed promising that there are other parts of the universe where life is promising.

  • Piling On The Pressure By: Dominic Donaldson - In the world of engineering it is vital that standards are met and maintained to ensure safety and also quality of work. Engineering often involves precise measurements and meticulous planning this is never more so than in piling. Piling refers to the foundation or supporting platform that an engineering project is built on. The piling will differ from project to project but the principles are the same. The piling needs to adequately support anything that is built upon it. For this reason is could be described as one of the earliest considerations in an engineering project and possibly the most important.

  • Tips On How To Use Lubricants By: Amit Kheterpal - Friction induces resistance and that causes extreme heat to be generated. This heat can damage the materials plus it requires more force to make the parts work if there is no lubricant. That is definitely not to say that friction is bad because it is frictions which helps in everyday work without us knowing about it like automobiles on the road are not rolling and bumping into each other because of the friction. Lubricants work as liquid or a waxy substance which come in between the two substances which were earlier rubbing against each other.

  • Refracting Telescope Advantages Over Other Telescopes By: Koz Huseyin - Are you thinking of buying a refracting telescope? You perhaps are wondering, what are some of the refracting telescope advantages, over other telescopes. As you read this article, you will discover more about refracting telescope advantages, compared with other types of telescope. When looking at telescope designs, you will only find 2 predominant designs. The rest of telescope designs pretty much are improvements to the 2 main designs. These designs are the refracting telescope, which is synonymous with Galileo. The second design is the Newtonian reflector, which is synonymous with Isaac Newton. The refracting telescope is one which we all know.

  • Your Digestive System - How It Really Works By: James R - Everyone loves to get the most for their money. Its tough enough to save money now with the high cost of living, therefore we are becoming more conscious of what we are getting for our dollar. This is no different when it comes to our grocery shopping. We spend time looking for high quality foods at bargain prices. So if we are going to this much work then why not get the most out of what it has to offer. I mean we eat for two reasons, one because we have to in order to live, and the other because we like food.
