There should be a good number of fire exits in the building’s architecture. Fire exits should be easy to see and should never be locked. Some foolish business owners tend to lock the fire exits in the buildings, and that is a big mistake, which could mean fatal injuries to those who are inside the building.
Fire safety alarms should also be installed well, as people who are concentrating on their work or their studies, or those who are sleeping, will not be aware of any fire brewing somewhere a few rooms away. A good fire alarm would alert those who need to be alerted, so that they will not be trapped if ever the fire spreads out to more rooms.
There should also be a strict maintenance and strategic placing when it comes to the fire extinguishers and fire blankets in the area. They should be very easy to access, and should not be bundled away together in a storage room or a cupboard. They should also be stored and used properly, because some people tend to use fire blankets on huge fires, whereas some use fire extinguisher on small fires. Education, about the fire safety equipment and fire hazards, among the people who are in the building should be made a high priority task by the building officials. The lives of many people are lost because of the lack of building fire safety.
Failure to comply with the strict ordinance is a sure way to have you building permit taken away. Not only that, but you business will be in big danger too.
