Make Your Mark: Rubber Stamps

By: Isaac S. Sanders

Many people assume that rubber stamps are no longer used in today's day and age. But on the contrary rubber stamps still have a place in the world whether its at the office or at home they are still very useful tools.

There are many different designs and types of rubber stamps. There are the classic wood handled rubber stamps. This type of stamp has to be pressed against an ink pad before it can be stamped. With the introduction of more advanced rubber stamps the classic wood stamp is usually chosen for its artistic qualities. The two latest additions to the rubber stamp family are the self inking stamp and pre inked stamps. The self inking stamps have a mechanism inside the contraption which applies the ink to the rubber each time you press to make an imprint. Pre inked stamps are made of a more absorbent material. The ink is integrated into the rubber of the stamp and will only need a replacement once the sponge like rubber has completely dried up.

Address stamps are convenient for people who plan to mail a large amount of items. This is especially useful for businesses. Using an address stamp is a good alternative than having to write out your address numerous amounts of times or even print it out on stickers (wasting paper and ink). Simply stamping all your outgoing mail will save a lot of time. Not only can businesses utilize address stamps but so can everyday people. An address stamp will come in handy if you need to mail many items during the holiday seasons. Rubber address stamps can make mailing out cards, gifts, packages, letters, invitations etc easier than ever.

One type of stamp that is incredibly useful in the work environment is the signature stamp. This stamp is useful because it allows you to quickly and easily endorse any kind of document. With the stamp you can simply sign checks, contracts, and invoices. You can even endorse documents while outside the office. If there is a document that needs to be signed and it is of the utmost importance but you are unfortunately not in the office you can give someone (secretary perhaps) access to your stamp. This saves an enormous amount of time because otherwise the paperwork would have to wait until you returned to become processed.

Another stamp that is very important to the business environment is the notary stamp. These kinds of stamps are used to verify the identity of anyone signing a document. In large corporations they use notary stamps to further authenticate a contract or agreement. This provides security against either party if the deal is broken. The document can be used in a court case as evidence as well.

Custom stamps are widely used by many artistic individuals. A custom stamp can contain anything such a name, personalized message or symbol. With a wide variety of fonts and inks to choose from custom stamps is a great way for one to express him or herself or create a unique way to label personal effects or artwork.

The rubber stamp is not an obsolete tool. It is still widely used by many different people for many different reasons. No matter what you do or where you work, you can find many uses in a rubber stamp. With the wide selection of stamps available it will make your life easier.
