Puggle Training 101

By: Mike Kershaw

Wouldn't it be great to take care of a dog? Wouldn't it be nice if you would have a companion that you could cuddle and snuggle with while you watch TV? Of course, it would be great. It would be nice to sit on warm couch with your puggle on a stormy night while checking out your favorite DVD.

It would be nice to have a puggle at home. However, like regular dogs, you will have to put them through puggle training. This is important so you maintain a healthy relationship with your dog. Not to mention that you will have less headaches when it comes to taking care of your prized pooch.

Puggle training begins as soon as you take the puggle home. Have a place where he could sleep. Designate an area where he would eat. And make sure that he eats on a schedule. This will help establish discipline with your puggle.

One of the most tricky parts of puggle training is housebreaking or potty training your dog. It is very difficult to potty train a dog. And you might get frustrated. You need to make sure that you teach him where to go and relieve himself. It takes some time and a great deal of patience to potty train your dog. And the feeding schedule will be a big help when it comes to potty training. The food schedule will help you determine when your dog will need to take a dump or when he will need to pee. Make sure that you don't give him too much water near is bedtime to ensure that he won't be wetting his bed.

A dog needs to socialize. This is important in helping build the dog's self-esteem. Temperament is also trained during socializing, making the dog less aggressive with other animals and as well with people. You must also remember that puggles have beagle heritage. And beagles are working dogs. This means you have to spend some play time with your dog. Play some catch games or take a walk in the park.

In puggle training, you have to be creative when it comes to obedience. This breed is interested in learning tricks more than in obeying commands. So you have to make sure that you catch the dog's imagination when it comes to training. This will be important to instill discipline in your dog. This will also help prevent any rowdiness in the puggle. You may use toys or treats in puggle training. You must also take note that this breed responds well to commands in motion. They could take several commands in succession. They work well with rewards-based training.

Make sure that your dog is never bored to death. Dogs have this tendency to look for things to play with when it becomes bored. If the dog becomes bored, this can also increase anxiety in him. So you will have to give him toys or have him do some activities to make sure that he doesn't get too bored and agitated.
