Wanting Fun Tips In Artificial Flower Decorating?

By: MishaVasser

A Point for Functionalism

When decorating your house, the look you are going for can be classy, unique, retro, chic, modern, eclectic, or traditional. Any style is great—as long as the style isn’t chaotic. Though “less is more” doesn’t always have to be the rule when decorating, “as much as is humanly possible” hardly ever looks nice. Some overzealous decorators have so many large decorative items that one cannot even walk around efficiently. You may have had the experience of walking into someone’s garage and seeing that it is so full of decorative materials that there is not enough room for anything else (like an automobile). In order to avoid some dysfunctional methods when designing for your home, first consider the purpose of the room that you would like to decorate. For example, the kitchen is a highly trafficked area, and counter space is usually more valuable for cooking than for decorating. Bedrooms, by contrast, are a great place to add flourishes and accents, since it is mainly a room for resting and for storing personal times. A good rule of thumb is if you need to move a decorative piece out of the way more than twice a week, it probably should be thrown out or exchanged for a more functional item.

Keys to Making Your Silk Plants Last

If you are planning on decorating with silk (or fake) plants, there are a couple of rules that you need to follow to ensure longevity. First, the silk, plastic, or other materials used in most artificial plants can fade if placed in direct sunlight. You do not have to completely avoid sunlight, but make sure the location of plants gets shifted periodically. Another step you will want to take is to dust your plants on a regular basis—too much dust causes flowers and plants to lose color. Most silk flowers are fragile, so if you have an arrangement please keep it out of reach of small children to protect both the child and the flower. If something does happen to your plant, check with the manufacturer about how to fix them. You can correct a lot of mishaps by using a hot glue gun. For more dramatic breaks or cracks, use wire to wrap, tighten, and seal.

Picking the Right Pot

Choosing the right pot for your flower arrangements, plants, or trees is just as important as choosing the right picture frame for your artwork. The right pot is determined by the style, size, and color of the plant. The bonsai plant is a great illustration of this: because of its appearance and origin, you will want an Oriental pot with a clay or stone material. Since bamboo plants are quite trendy right now, using metallic materials and fashionable designs works well. Make sure to do some shopping around before you settle on a design, since there are many options available to you! There is no rulebook as far as pot size. Some arrangements are arranged around a very large decorated pot, and in other arrangements the pot is barely visible.

How To Decorate Your Home—Even with Small Children Around

Many families with small children still have a strong desire for a well decorated home. This at times can seem to be counter productive as children, especially very young kids, have a way of distracting from the natural flow of completing décor projects. One way to solve the problem is to get them involved rather than trying to keep them away. If you are doing something that a younger person cannot do, give them a similar project that they are old enough for. If you want to change their room, not only will involving your children be a fun experience for them, they will be more likely to respect and protect their work. Search the Internet for project ideas you can do with your kids. If you want to decorate with items that will survive the younger years, use hanging plants (which cannot be reached) and tall artificial trees (which are hard to damage).

Of course, completing home decoration projects can be hard to do if children are constantly suspending your work or somehow getting in the way. They will enjoy not only the time they spend with you, but the final product that you create together. Search the Internet for project ideas you can do with your kids.
