Why You Need Qualities Of Leadership

By: Joandra Evaline

Of the many qualities of leadership, leaders are mostly renowned for great vision and for taking action to make their vision a reality.

They know how to drive others to help them reach goals. They understand how to help others change behaviors so that strategies can be made.

There are many leadership qualities, but the most important ones are:

* Listening: Good leaders will listen to other points of view and opinions, and they do it in a positive way. They will take the time to figure out how to base their strategies and goals on their followers' needs.

* Leaders are great communicators. They know how to express themselves clearly. They also know when to speak calmly or motivationally. They are also very easy to follow because they give understandable directions.

* Leaders know how to help their follows see problems and obstacles. But more than that, a good leader will know how to help the team overcome these obstacles and find answers to problems.

* The ability to delegate. This is one of the most important qualities of leadership, but one that is frequently overlooked. Leaders know the strengths and skills of their team, and they capitalize on these strengths by giving each team member tasks that contribute to the goals.

* A good leader knows how to show appropriate appreciation to team members who have done well. Good leaders know when to reward their followers.

* Leaders show respect. Good leaders make it a point to try and treat others the way they would like to be treated themselves. When they follow the Golden Rule, they aren't just commanding respect: They show that they deserve respect.

* Good leaders set goals. They set clear objectives that are attainable and easy to understand.

* Leaders try to include creativity or innovation into the goals that are set.

* Good leaders also try to keep everyone involved in the strategies that they have implemented.

* One of the most important qualities of leadership also includes encouraging integrity, values, and ethics, in the workplace.

According to John Quincy Adams, a leader is someone who inspires others to dream, learn, do, and become more. If you motivate people to do these things, you are on the right path to becoming a good leader.

  • The Importance Of Leadership Development By: Ray Subs - It’s easy to discount the importance of leadership development, assuming that corporate leaders either have what they take or they don’t and if they do they’ll learn as they go. Sometimes all that’s needed is a little leadership development. There is no such thing as a natural born leader, which is why leadership development is so important. Anyone can have the fundamental requirements necessary for the leadership role. It’s how they develop them that matters.

  • Leadership Trait Theories By: Robert II Smith - Training is an grave aspect of the change leader. Smith and Sharma proposed that in order for an organization to have full benefit from performance and longevity transformers need to develop suitable traits, responsibility, and leadership in every employee. This contradicts the belief of the trait theorists that leaders are born with leadership traits. People possess the ability to learn, which leaders of trait theory do not acknowledge. Baca, Meese and Ortmeier asserted that the trait theories do not account for learning ability, which would suggest that leadership skills may be developed in those not born with them.
